Author Interview

Please tell us about the Shifter Evolutions series and how you came up with the concept.

The story begins with Invasion of 2020 (not written yet) about how an alien race migrates to Earth after fleeing from their deteriorating home planet. This is the story about how human react to life forms differing from themselves. A story essentially about prejudice, betrayal, passion, sacrifice, hate, and the human condition.

What can we expect from The Shifters of 2040?

You can expect the unexpected. Complicated characters who question themselves and grow as the series continues. Sometimes the growth is for the better and sometimes not…an eye opening six part story on the conditions prejudice will take humanity. The story asks the question: What if Earth really was invaded by aliens.

Please tell us a bit about the main characters in the Shifters of 2040.

Melissa Marn and Bruce wilder are scientists working for the SCM. Diamond and Unseen are two main hybrids. Clay is the elder shifter who cares for all the alien race on Earth, the wise one. Brendan is the main shifter whom has relations with Melissa.

What do you enjoy especially about working on the series?

I love the variety of characters and points of views. Human. Alien. They each have their own fears, prejudices, and expectations that take the reader on a wonderful journey that is very human.

Is there one character that you especially like writing about?

Melissa Marn. She is complicated, cold. But as a child, she was torn between a mother who died in child birth and a workaholic father. She had been a soft rebel, and then as an adult, she lost her spirit along the way…and the reader takes the journey of her redemption as the story continues.

What can we expect from the next book in the Shifter Evolutions series?

The SCM of 2030 is the next book releasing mid may 2011. The series really begins with Shifter 2040 and the Hybrids 2050 and then the reader decides to read past or future next. The SCM shows the read who Raul was and what made him the man he becomes, the evil behind the military.  We learn about a new character, Veena, and  we also learn more about who Melissa is and her father and how that relationship affects her.

How long does it take you to write a book and what is your work schedule like when you’re writing?

3 months to write. 1-2 months to edit. I usually work part time on something to earn money. I currently have three jobs and my writing. So, I keep busy.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I like to sun bathe, read, sleep, swim…..eat!

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

Believe in yourself. Write because it is essential to who you are, not because you are trying to prove something to the world or something…don’t write for others. Do it for yourself.

What would your ideal career be, if you couldn’t be an author?

Journalist or Teacher. Currently, I am studying the Montessori Method and training soon! Love Maria Montessori!!
