My doorstep was looking a little bare this week, after receiving numerous book deliveries last week for review copies and self-purchases. This week only one book turned up on my doorstep (purchased from Amazon), The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Since this has been turned into a movie, I thought I had better get around to reading it first! I will also be reading this book as part of the Aussie Readers, Goodreads Winter Challenge for the ‘book turned into movie’ section.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Blurb: (from Goodreads) In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister’s place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
What books arrived in your mailbox this week?
I loved this series. I couldn’t stop thinking about it at work, at uni, while I was driving. Any time I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about reading it! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. (my IMM).
I know, I am really looking forward to reading it. Then I will need to order the next book!
Alisa, I think somehow we were just visiting each others’ blogs at the same time- coz I just stopped by and left a comment at yours!

Thanks Kristin, Tania, Shoshanah and Shelleyrae! It sounds like I have made a good choice in purchasing Hunger Games. Check back in later when the review is posted!
