Sometimes it’s far worse.
Review: I absolutely love this contemporary romance series which puts a lovely spin on your typical Highlander adventure.
Clenney had me hooked from the first few pages of Embrace the Highland Warrior.
She effortlessly creates chemistry between leading characters that lays the foundation for the remainder of the story. I was immediately drawn to Cody and Shay and invested in the success of their relationship from early on in the story.
After a break- in at her shop in Scotland, Shay decides to take a break and returns to her home town where she grew up with the Connor Clan, a clan of warriors who fight demons- only Shay never new about this secret existence. She bumps into childhood sweetheart Cody, who she left in a hurry after fall out 9 years prior. They have a lot of unresolved issues and both are reluctant to share their feelings due to their protective defences- even though they have both always loved each other.
Embrace the Highland Warrior is action-packed and kept me turning the pages (digitally) to find out what happened next! The paranormal sub-plot is particularly intriguing as Shay realises that there are demons out to get her and so she must trust the Connor Clan to keep her safe.
Clenney creates suspense and paranormal intrigue wrapped up in a contemporary highlander novel, which just works great! Highly recommended to paranormal/ highlander fans. I hope Anita continues to write more stories in this series.
You can read my review for the first in the series, Awaken the Highland Warrior.
