An Aussie Girl Travels… my travel blog

Starting up a travel blog has been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time now. I love to read about other’s travel experiences and I also enjoy reflecting on my own. I’ve kept a travel journal for all of my overseas trips, my road trip across Australia and I’ve even started to keep them for some of my minibreaks interstate and weekends away.

Sometimes there are things that photos just can’t capture. I love re-reading my journals and recalling a local I interacted with, a delicious meal I devoured or a touching encounter with a historical aspect of a city or country.

After more than two years of blogging about books and writing, I’ve decided to branch out and chat about something else I really love.

Hence, An Aussie Girl Travels was born. With a trip to Europe on the horizon I thought I’d get it up and started now so I can get into the habit of posting. So for now I’ll be mainly sharing reflections of my recent trip to India as well as local trips I’ve had in the past year.

Feel free to stop by and check it out and if you’re interested in keeping up to date with where I’ve been, what I’ve eaten or where I’m going then you may want to subscribe while you are there. I’ll also welcome any follows on Twitter and Facebook while I’m getting started.

I’m already discovering a whole new community of bloggers who lead such interesting lives. These are some of the travel blogs I currently follow:

Cooking in Tongues

A Taste for Travel

Girl in Florence

Relish & Graze

If you’re like me and like to live vicariously through other people’s adventures then check out An Aussie Girl Travels.

Do you follow any non-book (or writing/ publishing) related blogs?

  • Congratulations on the new blog, Lauren. I don’t know how you’re going to manage keeping two blogs going. I struggle with just the one. Travel is a great topic. I look forward to reading about your adventures in Europe.

    • Thanks Murray, it sure will be a huge time management challenge 🙂 Though I do hope it will be a little less time consuming than a book blog as I won’t have a schedule of books to be read and reviewed at particular times. My travel blog will just be about my own thoughts and excerpts from my travel journals… so not too much preparation required 🙂

      • Hmmm… That’s how mine started, but then I realised that each piece needed to be properly structured and I needed to organise the photos etc. In the end, it takes me at least half a day per post.

  • I love reading about other people’s travels but you will need to be prepared for the I’m so jealous comments on every second post! 😉
