Review: I absolutely loved this historical/ contemporary romance which puts a lovely spin on your typical Highlander adventure.Bree is an historian who is very passionate about the Highlander history and her family of origin. She possesses some important artefacts that have been passed down from her grandmother. When her grandmother passes away, Bree moves into her home and stumbles across a Highlander who has just emerged from a crypt after being trapped for 150 years. A large man in a kilt with a dagger would probably frighten most but for Bree she is intrigued by his history and attracted to his physicality so she takes him into her home.Faelan turns out to be a Highland warrior who was locked away by the enemy more than a century ago. He is suspicious of Bree’s motives but also intoxicated by her. He is in search of his family and Bree wants answers to some of the big questions in history. They have an instant chemistry which is written well, very believable and lots of fun.Set in contemporary America, it has a heavy highlander influence as Faelan’s past infiltrates the present. There’s even time when Bree and Faelan head over to Scotland and I love how the contemporary meets with the historical throughout this story as well as the supernatural elements. It was interesting to see the gender role differences that emerge given their generational gaps and how Faelan struggles with Bree’s fierce independence and how she puts up with his over protectiveness andchauvinistic ways. Bree is a strong feisty character who I connected with quickly and Faelan is a loveable guy despite his shortcomings. I understood both of their motivations and desires as they were both well developed as characters. Two POV’s added a lot of depth to the story. I loved how everything was tied up at the end but it also left me wanting more. Highly recommended for any historical romance fan who want strong characters and a rich storyline.
