She is landed with her grandmother’s successful café along with her magical abilities that Ellie has an innate talent for. She is a little reluctant to take on such a huge responsibility but soon realises that the Mystic Café is exactly where she wants to be. Her life becomes troublesome when the good-looking farmer Rory Covington enters her café and orders a cheeseburger. She feels an instant attraction to him but makes a fool of herself when she flies through the café and swipes the burger out of his mouth. Her waitress has given him the wrong meal with the wrong spell. But it is too late. Everyone woman in town is now hot on the heels of Rory, including his ex-girlfriend, Kim from the city who returns with a vengeance- to get him back and she will not stop at anything for this to happen. So, Kim makes Ellie’s life very difficult. But Ellie also has to deal with Tom Owenton a magical authority that has turned up on her doorstep and threatened to close down her café due to poor practices. Ellie has to work with him to keep the café open as well as figure out whether her feelings for Rory are real or because of the magic. This is a sweet romance in the chic lit genre with a little supernatural thrown in. Ellie is a likeable character and the tension between her and Rory (and Tom) is enjoyable. Kim is a cliché snobby ex-girlfriend who wants to make trouble but she adds a nice element to the story.I recommend this to those who enjoy a fun, light-hearted romance with a touch of magic.
