Aussie Book Review: Managing Death (Death Works #2) by Trent Jamieson
Trent Jamieson- Managing Death (Death Works #2) Format- Paperback Source- Review copy/ Orbit - HachetteSynopsis: It's not easy being Death. For starters, people keep dying. And then, they keep getting up again.Steven de Selby got promoted. This makes the increasing number of stirrers (and the disturbing rumors of a zombie god rising sometime soon) his problem. That time management seminar he keeps meaning to take would also remind him that he's got a Death Moot to plan, a Christmas party to organize, and an end-of-the-world thing to avert.Steven must start managing Death, before Death starts managing him, or this time the Apocalypse will be more than Regional.Review: This is the second novel in Aussie author, Trent Jamiesons' Death Works Trilogy. Now Steven is the Regional Manager (a.k.a Death) he needs to step up to the role of managing pomps, expanding the business and battling the rise of stirrers in the local vicinity.I felt like I knew Steven a little better in this sequel, his motivations and emotions were more apparent to me as the reader. I also felt vested in the success of the relationship between Lissa and Steven this time around, perhaps because the character of Lissa felt more wholesome. Something sutble changed in my feeling about the way this relationship evolved from the first to the second book.Once again, this series is a great mix of supernatural and action wrapped up nicely in the setting of Brisbane.
