She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.Review- A woman has been killed at the front of Eric Northam’s home and Sookie hopes her vampire viking boyfriend wasn’t involved in her murder. But she can’t be too sure, because she busted Eric feeding off her just moments before. Turns out it was a ploy to interfere with Sookie and Eric’s relationship and the woman had spiked her blood with fairy blood to be more alluring. Their relationship is on rocky grounds, especially since Eric has been betrothed to Freyda the Queen of Oklahoma against his will, or so he says.Something fishy is going on with the fae too, there’s a portal in Sookies backyard and she senses that they are aware she may have had contact with the cluvial dor, a magical stone that will grant one of her wishes true.Alcide and Bill are also on the scene, but not as a romantic interest. Sooke is beginning to second guess her relationship with Bill, she does love him but do they have a future together?In Deadlocked, Sookie is a bit down in the dumps. She has been witness to more bloodbaths and dead bodies in her kitchen and she can’t shake the feeling that someone it out to get her. On top of all that her relationship with Eric is unstable. I know there’s been some negative reviews for Deadlocked, but to be honest I was kind of glad when the author started to hint that things might not work out for Eric and Sookie after all. Although this isn’t completely answered in book #12, but I am hopeful that she will break free from him. I used to really like Eric, but now I feel like Sookie needs to get away from the dangers of the vamp world and have a more balanced relationship with someone that doesn’t force her to marry him or dismiss her feelings. I feel they had a good run and now it’s time for her to let him go. My hopes of her rekindling a flame with Alcide are probably a bit realistic but her emotional connection with Sam may lead to other possibilities in book #13… but who knows?
