So, just another day in Stephanie Plum’s life really.When Stephanie’s next bail jumper, a worshipped local candy-store owner goes missing she begins to suspect some foul play. Murders, threats and vigilantes don’t scare her though, she is determined to catch him and cash in on her cheque. With the help of her eccentric ex-prostitute now assistant, Lula they make an entertaining crime-stopping duo who seem to attract problems rather than solve them.Morelli’s back on the scene, the spunky cop who Stephanie has naughty dreams about but this time around he’s keeping a safe distance from her and she begins to wonder what his deal is. Usually he takes any opportunity to make crude jokes or hit on her but when he seems to lose interest, Stephanie is determined to make him notice her again.When Morelli told Stephanie that she was a ‘walking disaster’ and that a bloke would be crazy to get involved with her, I couldn’t help but agree with him. I love her as a character, but there are times I think that she is completely ridiculous! She’s like an adolescent with ADD sometimes; jumping into situations without thinking, impulsivity and her knack for avoiding all things emotional. In particular, when she was avoiding Morelli because she thought he was going to arrest her- so her solution to the problem was to just hide from him.I’d love to see things progress between these two, but I have a feeling that given I have another 15 books to play catch-up with in this series the sexual tension and dramas between them will only intensify. I got the impression that Morelli is trying to find some stability in his life despite his chaotic work-life, but Stephanie’s not really in the head space to become grounded any time soon.Nevertheless, I have ordered the next three books in the series and look forward to getting caught up in more of Plum’s adventures!Read my review for One for the Money (#1) and Two for the Dough (#2).
