Stacking the Shelves #23 and the week ahead...
Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga @ Tynga’s Reviews.
For Stacking the Shelves, I take the opportunity to share what books I've bought, won or received for review. Click on the book cover to go to Goodreads and find out more information. The week gone...What a busy week! My laptop crashed yet again and has also set me back with NanoWriMo again. So, my fiance has dusted off his old Apple PC and i've had to learn how to use it so I can keep writing and doing what I need to do. I've just passed the 41,000 word mark on my novel which isn't too bad considering my computer problems. I have just five days to go to bring up my total word count to 50,000 words which means i'll be working hard each evening this week.Over the past week I've posted about:Review: Close Enough to Touch by Victoria DahlIndie Author Corner with Julie Grasso plus GIVEAWAY (AU only)Escape Publishing's Kate Cuthbert stopped by to talk about their launch titlesQ&A with each of the 5 launch authors of Escape PublishingReview: The Secret Keeper by Kate MortonFor review: Author, Becky Wicks recently contacted me about her latest travel memoir, Balilicious. I love travel memoirs, because I get to see the world vicariously through the eyes of another without having to break the bank balance!
Synopsis: A lot can happen when you set out to “find yourself”. Sometimes, you can even lose the plot.
“From visiting ancient healers with cellphone additions to leaving a shaking ashram intent on extracting her soul, Becky Wicks soon discovered that six months travelling round Bali wasn’t all going to be about finding inner peace and harmony. In fact, the perils of possessed teens, eating raw, yogic headstands, diving shipwrecks and dicing with black magic and demons all took their toll on the Island of the Gods.
And that was before the vaginal steaming.
Becky Wicks lifts the sari on real life in Bali in a blur of locals, tourists, expats and the others with Julia Roberts Syndrome, who arrive… you know… not really knowing who they are.”
Won: I've had a couple more romance novels arrive from the Melbourne Cup Reader's Sweep competition I won over at BookThingo a few weeks ago. It's fun opening up the parcels to see what other people have enjoyed reading and want to pass on.The week ahead... what i'll be readingLife of Pi by Yann Martel (I meant to start this one last week but got a bit behind)Bridie's Choice by Karly LaneBlackwattle Creek by Pamela CookThe Trouble with Lucy (ebook) by L.J Young
So, that’s it for me. What books have you added to your shelves this week?
