Stacking the Shelves #26 and the week ahead...
Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga @ Tynga’s Reviews.
For Stacking the Shelves, I take the opportunity to share what books I've bought, won or received for review. Click on the book cover to go to Goodreads and find out more information. The week gone... I've had a super busy weekend with my attempt at doing some Christmas shopping. Already the crowds are overwhelming and the parking ridiculous. It's at this time of the year I wish I were far more organised. If only I'd started earlier! Anyway, in terms of reading i've been a little slow this week as I've also been working on a short story deadline for RNP. I read Australian rural novels Bridie's Choice by Karly Land and Blackwattle Lake by Pamela Cook and really enjoyed them both. I'm just over a third of the way through Wuthering Heights and I must say this story has been a struggle for me so far. I don't like any of the characters and I'm finding it a little hard to follow. These classics always take me forever to get through because I often have to re-read passages and really take my time .Over the past week I've posted about:Review: Guardians of Stone by Anita ClenneyIndie Author Corner + Giveaway (AU only) of United States of Air (satire) by J.M PorupAussie Book Review: Bridie's Choice by Karly LaneAussie Author Interview with Karly LaneFor review: All That Glitters is a review copy that arrived unexpectedly from Allen & Unwin. I'm not sure if it's really a good fit for me, but if I get a chance during January I'll give this one a shot.
Synopsis: Isabel doesn't want to marry a tycoon. She wants to be one. Isabel Suarez-Octavio is ravishing, intelligent and ambitious. But unlike some of her friends, she's not planning to use her looks to seduce a billionaire and become someone's trophy wife. She's just arrived at Oxford University, and she is determined to make her mark on the world. The city of dreaming spires is everything she hoped for. The parties are riotous, the societies thrilling, and the people are the power brokers of tomorrow. Before long, Isabel is prowling the corridors of Westminster by day, partying in Miami by night: a rising star pursuing good times and a glittering career. Until a yacht trip along Italy's glamorous Amalfi Coast goes horribly wrong. Suddenly, Isabel is in the frame for murder, standing utterly alone against some of the world's most powerful men. After years of thinking only of the future, she must finally confront the secrets of her past - and face her biggest challenge yet.
The week ahead... I'm just about to start The Captive Sun and I hope to finish Wuthering Heights this week. I've also signed up to the 2012 Virtual Advent Tour and I'll have my first Christmassy post up tomorrow.
So, that’s it for me. What books have you added to your shelves this week?
