NaNoWriMo 2014

It's that time of year again and I'm taking on the daunting task of participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Yes, that's right. I pledge to write 50,000 words in 30 days. AGH!It's been 2 years since I last embarked on the crazy mission of writing a novel in a month, but I've had a great story brewing in my mind for a couple of months and its time to release it! With the first chapter of my crime fiction novel, Exposed (working title) already out of the way, I think I have a pretty good chance of getting a good bulk of the word count typed up this month. What I'd like most to get out of NaNoWriMo is to create a routine that allows for frequent bursts of writing. One day a week at the moment isn't really going to cut it. So while I will aim for 50,000 words, I'm not too fussed on quantity as I am quality. I've been told over and over again to just get words down on paper... but I've recently learnt that polishing something before moving on can keep a story on track. It will also cut down on the mammoth job of editing a bunch of garble as I've done in the past. The more I write the more I learn about myself and of course the craft of writing. I'm really excited to see where Exposed will lead me...If you are signing up for the challenge then look me up as a writing buddy on NaNoWriMo under "Lauren K."
